This Was an Experiment
It had to end sometime.
That was fast. I expected this to last a year. After all, the poetry experiment started off as “write ten poems” and went on for two years (no takers on the book yet). But it turns out seven months was enough to see what happened to my writing if I wrote regularly. Not only did I learn that I could write regularly, but that I can switch forms, take what I learned in one form and apply it to another, and effectively steal techniques from other writers and add those skills to my own. I’m truly happy with my progress. So, it’s time to move forward again.
I won’t be closing this Substack. But I plan to put more effort into submitting to literary magazines, so I’ll pop up in your inbox less often. Considering how often some folks post and how easy it is to become disenchanted after a flood of emails, this is probably a good thing. I look forward to sharing the news of a successful submission one day.
Thanks to everyone who stuck around these past ten years(!), to everyone who’s signed up to the mailing list these past few months. and to everyone who’s shared and sent kind words my way. I’ll see you soon.
Dwayne

It's not ending...You are growing, having integrated what you learned. That is marvelous!
